    The Helo dunker course provides all the participants with knowledge of rescue equipment on board helicopters, sea survival techniques and rescue operations.

    Theoretical and Practical Aspects

    Survival at Sea

    • Throwing of self-inflating rescue raft from the side of the pool (in group)
    • Entry into water from a 3-meter-high platform
    • Life jacket underwater activation
    • Survival swimming
    • Help position
    • Huddle position
    • Survival Circle
    • Self-inflating raft reaching
    • Self-inflating raft boarding
    • On-board positioning
    • How to help others get on the self-inflating raft
    • Self-inflating raft leaving
    • Collective simulation consisting in leaving the self-inflating raft in night environment with waves and rain.
    • Straightening of the self-inflating raft
    • Recovery of man overboard with rescue line
    • Recovery of man overboard through winch

     

    Escape from the helicopter (simulator “HELO DUNKER”)

    Simulation within the Helo Dunker aircraft simulator (equipped with 2 front seats and 6 back seats) 7 individual sessions in diurnal and nocturnal conditions, with and without waves (wave generator level 2 minimum) , with and without rain

    • Explanation and practical demonstration of:
    • Impact position
    • Fastening and unfastening 2 and 4 points belts
    • Evacuation procedures in case of ditching
    • Controlled water landing, windows removal after the impact, escape from the helicopter and boarding              on a self-inflating rescue raft in nocturnal conditions, with waves and rain.
    • Ditching with vertical trim maintenance:
    • Evacuation without windows removal
    • Evacuation with windows removal after water impact but before complete sinking
    • Evacuation with windows removal after water impact and complete sinking, in nocturnal conditions, with waves
    • Evacuation from the helicopter after sinking, by swimming underwater
    • Ditching and capsizing:
    • Evacuation without windows removal
    • Evacuation with windows removal after water impact but before complete sinking
    • Evacuation with windows removal after water impact and complete sinking, in nocturnal conditions, with waves
    • Evacuation from the helicopter after sinking, by swimming underwater

     

    • Rescue of a person who has been trapped inside the helicopter after the capsizing
